Tokyo Headspa partnered with Sundeck Studio to rebuild their website around how customers actually book. Six locations, one headless CMS, and an 85% rise in mobile users.
Tokyo Head Spa is Australia’s first and leading head spa, with six thriving locations across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. While the brand was growing fast and attracting high volumes of walk-ins, the digital experience of booking treatments and packages was falling behind. Customers found it difficult to book online, and the internal team struggled to manage bookings across multiple outlets.
The treatments, services, packages is a complex structure that offers customers a dynamically calculated discount. With lack of customsable data models and personalisation capabilities, the internal team had to manually set these discounts and offer services and packages in silos.
Tokyo head spa was working with small-scale out-dated platform which would run into limitations or would require a developer to make customised features on top of the core platform. This would limit the team from adding new treatments, services and effectively engage with the customers.
They also lacked a modular architecture to connect multiple services, each attribute of the service had to be handled manually
Without a single place to manage media content, on-going offers, service pricing and gift offerings, each of these had to be worked on in silos. The content was hosted in a seperate cloud-drive re uploaded for every use case.
We redesigned the overall digital experience to put customer booking experience first, making it easy to explore treatments, gifts section, learn about the benefits of a head spa.
We strategised the digital journey, moving it beyond simple transactions to an experience that educates customers about treatments and benefits while guiding them through a seamless checkout.
With modern tech-stack we could integrate arithmetic calulcations to the purchase experience to apply discounts dynamically. This streamlined journey reduced booking friction, took users through calm journey mirrored from premium in-store experience.
At the core, we implemented Hygraph CMS to give the Tokyo team full control over services, packages and content management. This modular setup allowed them to:
Create and update treatments with ease and offer 'two-way referenced' packages and 'Journey' packages and create dynamic discount pricing rules without developer support.
Collaborate on content management in real time across marketing and sales team.
Manage a large media and video library seamlessly, through Hygraph Apps interlinked with DAM and video streaming services.
With AI integration, baked into CMS, they can now prompt Claude, ChatGPT or any other AI tool to add, edit, update content.
One key integration was a centralised DAM powered by Cloudinary, which streamlined how media was stored, accessed and reused across campaigns, digital experience and other on-screen outlets.
With Cloudflare Workers' serverless functions content updates are triggered in real-time. To ensure all media adapts and transforms correctly, we integrated Digital asset management (DAM) tool, Cloudinary, that offers AI image manipulation tools, baked into the setup for Tokyo head spa.
With Claude integrated into CMS, content management operations can be done by human-language prompting without any technical or dev support.
The new site was designed with a refined UI, an under-laying extensive design system and usage of striking imagery and subtle animations. This elevated the digital brand presence while ensuring usability stayed at the forefront.
The transformation reduced the operational costs, content management hours and gave Tokyo Head Spa team full control of its digital experience, from content to service management, creation of packaged services and applying dynamic discounts and personalisation.
By redesigning the user journey, mobile engagement jumped to over 80 percent. The mobile-first experience boosted satisfaction and directly drove higher booking numbers.
The new well-structured site has enabled Tokyo head spa on top of search queries for mobile users across Google and other leading search engines.
The modularity of the new digital experience has positioned Tokyo Head Spa to scale further, with headless commerce integrations planned for the future. This will allow the team to expand into physical product sales, gift cards, integrated add-ons, creating new and interlinked revenue streams while keeping the same flexibility and performance that the current platform delivers.
This month we revamped the treatment detail page (the key page for bookings).
Users were booking single treatments and completely missing the packages, which could save them a significant amount and brings more revenue to the business, a win win for both sides. We this month we completely re-designed the page, cleaning up the layout and bringing more emphasis to the savings and benefits on a package booking.
Package sales doubled. We further doubled down on packages by marketing automation, weekly campaign inviting the customers to try packages. The results so far have been great with a significant increase in package bookings.
